How to Use the No Signer Field

The No Signer field type in the Document Editor lets you add content to a document that is not assigned to any signer. Signers can see these fields during signing but cannot edit them — the content is pre-set by the sender.

Supported No Signer field types

  • Signature
  • Initials
  • Text
  • Checkbox
  • Dropdown
  • Attachment

Common use cases

  • Pre-signing a document: Add your own signature before sending it to signers, creating a counter-signed effect.
  • Adding read-only information: Add text fields with content all signers should see but cannot edit, such as a reference number, date, or legal clause.
  • Pre-checking checkboxes: Add a checkbox that is already marked and cannot be changed by signers.

How to add a No Signer field

  1. Open your document in the Prepare step of Xodo Sign.
  2. In the fields panel, select the field type you want to add.
  3. Change the signer assignment to No Signer.
  4. Drag the field onto your document.
  5. Enter the value you want to pre-set in the field.

Note: No Signer fields are visible to all signers during signing but cannot be edited.
