In the Document Editor, fields are either assigned to a specific signer (Signer fields) or left unassigned (No Signer fields). Understanding the difference helps you control exactly who fills in each part of your document.
Signer fields
Signer fields are assigned to a specific signer and can only be filled in by that signer during the signing process. Each signer in your document has a unique color. To place a field for a signer, select their name in the editor, then drag the field onto the document.
The following fields can be assigned to signers:
- Signature
- Initials
- Date Signed
- Text
- Full Name
- Company
- Title
- Checkbox
- Radio Button
- Dropdown
- Attachment
- Image
No Signer fields
No Signer fields are not assigned to any signer. They are set by the document sender and cannot be changed by signers during signing. Common uses include adding pre-filled text, checkboxes, or a sender's signature to the document before sending.
The following fields can be set as No Signer:
- Signature
- Initials
- Text
- Checkbox
- Dropdown
- Attachment
- Image
