When preparing a template, selecting a field reveals a Filled By dropdown in the options menu. This setting controls who fills in that field — the sender or the signer.
Filled By options
- Filled By Signer — The signer fills in the field during the signing process. This is the default setting.
- Filled By Me (Now) — You fill in the field immediately. A popup opens automatically to enter the value. Signers can still edit the field during signing.
- Filled By Me (Before Sending) — You fill in this field individually for each signer before the document is sent. This is called a Merge Field and is useful for personalizing documents at scale.
