Field Validation

Field Validation ensures signers enter data in the correct format before they can submit the document. When validation is enabled on a field, Xodo Sign checks the input and shows an error if it doesn't match the expected format.

How to enable field validation

  1. In the Document Editor, select the field you want to validate.
  2. In the field options panel, choose your preferred validation type from the Field Validation dropdown.

Available validation types

  • Email Address — Requires the signer to enter a valid email format (e.g., name[@]example.com)
  • Phone Number — Validates phone number format
  • Number — Accepts only numeric input
  • Date — Validates date format
  • Custom — Define your own validation pattern using a regular expression

If a signer enters invalid data in a validated field, they'll see an error message and cannot proceed until the input is corrected.
