How to Update the File in an Existing Template

If you need to update the document behind an existing template — for example, to fix a typo or update company information — you can use the Re-upload file feature. This replaces the file while keeping all your existing signature fields and roles in place.

How to re-upload the template file

  1. Open your template for editing.
  2. In the template editor, find your existing document file.
  3. Click the Re-upload file button next to the document title.
  4. Select the new file.
  5. You'll see a confirmation message once the file has been successfully replaced.

When to use this feature

Re-upload works best for minor changes, such as:

  • Correcting a typo or outdated information
  • Updating contact details or company branding
  • Making small text edits

The new file should ideally have the same page count as the original. If the layout changes significantly, your existing signature fields may no longer align correctly and will need to be repositioned.

When to create a new template instead

If you've made major structural changes — such as adding or removing pages, or completely redesigning the layout — it's better to create a new template from scratch rather than using Re-upload.
