How to Add Multiple Signers With the Same Email Address

Xodo Sign does not allow two signers to share the exact same email address on a single document — this will result in an error. However, you can work around this using email plus addressing, which most modern email services support.

How it works

Use the + symbol in an email address to create variations that all deliver to the same inbox. For example:

  • First signer: john[@]example.com
  • Second signer: john+1[@]example.com
  • Third signer: john+2[@]example.com

All of these emails deliver to john[@]example.com's inbox. You can use any text after the plus sign (e.g., john+wife, john+manager).

Remember not to use [ ] when adding emails.

Which email services support this?

Most modern email services support plus addressing, including Gmail, Outlook, and most corporate email systems. Yahoo Mail uses a hyphen separator instead and may not work reliably with plus addressing.

Troubleshooting

If the second signer is not receiving their email, check that their email service supports plus addressing. Try testing with a Gmail address if you're unsure.
